AYOKA by Diamant Ballou

a poem by Diamant Ballou

AYOKA (WOMAN OF THE WILD)

Hello,

my first love.

We spooned

on one of

the darker moons

Hiya,

you pushed me higher.

I discovered

Allo

Ayo

I found the

bedtime prayers

before bedtime stories

the ones I whispered

my soul to sleep

In the morning

on your resting place

our exchange

of dreams

and in memories face

I recall the life

of a softer child

Ayo

Ayoka

to the

feminine.

To the woman

responding with bile

Ayoka to

the women

gone wild.
